Agreement with the organization’s tenets is the condition of membership. Upon confirmation of the Pledge, a membership card is issued. Formal documentation may be required later.

Members are expected to remain current with the organization’s published literature and to represent its positions in their communities. A national forum is being established for internal communication. Members will be expected to distribute materials and establish a visible presence in their localities.

The organization does not tolerate racism. Membership is not restricted by party affiliation. Democrats, Republicans, and Independents may join. The ASA is defined by its tenets rather than by partisan alignment. This allows citizens across existing political lines to organize against the specific project of groups such as the Democratic Socialists of America, whose stated objective is the abolition of core protections within the American system.

After the Pledge is completed, the membership card is issued electronically and emailed to the address on the pledge.
